That's what I told her

When I was pregnant with Ason, Roo was known to walk around with a dolly under her shirt. When I was nursing her brother, she was known to sit on the couch with a baby held up to her chest. When she played with her dolls, she often used phrases like, "I have had enough of that!" or "You can go and play when you finish your food." This is the reason this next story caught me off guard.

Somehow Ason managed to tackle Roo and was sitting on top of her. She was lying on her back as he started playfully hitting her in the chest/stomach area.
She yelled out to him, "STOP! You're hurting her!"
Thinking Roo was pretending to be pregnant, I asked, "Who's going to get hurt?"
She said, "Janey."
I then inquired, "She's in your stomach?"

"No Mom, she's in my heart - remember?"

Comments:
Aw, that's sweet. Kids are so literal. You must have told her that Janey will always be in our heart and it stuck with her.

Sweet. Janey, Jesus - it's all the same, right? :-) I think we finally have the Arboretum tree thing settled, so the plaque should be up soon. I'll let you all know where and when.

Thanks MM for clarifying. . . I had a little typo that has been fixed. Roo said 'she's IN my heart' not 'she is my heart!'

Nothing like ruining the punchline.

Made me smile and tear up at the same time. Kids do that to us, huh?

Ha! I didn't even know I was clarifying a typo. In fact, after I posted the comment I immediately thought "well that's a dumb comment, it just states the obvious which I should have already known based on the title." Now I find out that I was accidentally being smart. Cool! Course, now with this comment I guess I'm right back to being dumb. Der.

I echo Touchstone---my eyes are so filled with tears, I can barely see.

Awww how cute. And a way to keep her brother from hitting her...BONUS!
